For all you Lord of the Rings fans out there...

Thu Apr 12, 2007, 11:14 AM
I did something similar to this in the thumbshare forum, but I didn't get the responses that I was looking for , so I thought I would try here! I have always been fascinated by the Lord of the Rings, and one of my ongoing series has been to photograph my sword replicas and alter them to make them look like they were taken somewhere in Middle Earth. Here are the ones I have so far:

Gandalf's sword in Rivendell:
Glamdring
Foe-Hammer
The Sword of Gandalf

Aragorn/Elendil's sword in Gondor:
Narsil
The Sword of Elendil

Frodo's sword in Shelob's Lair:
Sting
The Sword of Frodo

Arwen/Elrond's sword by the ford:
Hadhafang

Ok - now for your help. I have 2 more swords, the sword of Theoden, King of Rohan, and Aragorn's Elven fighting knife. I think the perfect place to photograph Theoden's sword would be at a horse stable, not a modern looking one, but an old medieval stable (if I can find one, lol). But I have no clue about what to do with Aragorn's knife. What do you think? I would greatly appreciate any help with this dilemma ;)

Have a great week!!

  • Listening to: The Killers
  • Reading: Star Wars Republic Commando novels
  • Watching: Battlestar Galactica (out until 2008 - ARGH!)
  • Playing: Battlefield 2 (as always), BFME 2

I love the idea of the stable, very good. I'm not a strong fan of the novel so I'm not sure where he got the Elven sword nor its properties, but perhaps a forest floor would be suitable.

By the way, the other shots are wonderfully done. :)

Thanks for your input, a forest floor might work well, seeing as how elves gave it to him, and he lost it once in a fight in the forest...hmmm!

Thanks again, these are some of my personal favorite shots!!

This is a nice concept. I think the swords in the webs are especially striking. It seems like a good place to accompany these might be in a snowy mountain top or desert area.

You're welcome. :)

Thanks for your comments, this has been a very enjoyable series to shoot. I like the webs best, too!
